XpressEXIF:
EXIF Data Viewer For S60 5th Ed Devices

XpressEXIFPhotography buffs and nosy inquisitive types everywhere have reason to rejoice, as a young talented developer known as kAIST has released a most useful utility for all S60 5th Edition touchscreen devices. XpressEXIF is an alternative image viewing application with a twist, sporting a simple but useful EXIF data viewer.

With a well designed and intuitive UI, XpressEXIF features kenetic scrolling of the images for a slick while still utilitarian experience. It isn't much different than any other image viewing application until you select an image. Instead of the usual full screen view most image gallery applications give you, XpressEXIF puts select EXIF data front and center, showing the camera make and model, date and time the image was taken, ISO sensitivity, exposure time, focal length, f-stop, flash status, and the scene mode in which the image was captured.

Many photography buffs like to study their image capturing techniques to improve their results, learn how mistakes were made, or just to know what sort of settings were used to achieve a certain shot all by viewing the EXIF data. The EXIF data is a collection of metadata tags containing certain information about the photograph, including but not limited to location, time, date, a thumbnail for viewing in photo manipulation and viewing applications, image description notes, copyright information, and of course, various camera setting parameters.

Unfortunately, as of now you can't edit the EXIF data, but having access to that data is still cool enough, if you ask me. XpressEXIF is an actively developed project, so there is hope the feature may be added in a future release.

XpressEXIF is a totally free software creation, but you can still contribute to kAIST financially by following the directions on his site. By registering, you can also contribute by suggesting any new features you may want to see in future versions of this application. I'll warn you, its in Russian, but a little Google Translate magic got me hooked up in no time.
