Freeware OpLogo Changer utility
for S60 3rd Devices
There are already few solutions for the Op Logo tweaking on 3rd edition phones but unfortunately due the very well known problems related to new security system and caged directories it wasn't that easy to change it.
Unfortunately, we were limited to working within ugly Black and White logos only and complicated procedures, but now, mainly thanks to the discoveries made after the FCA's platform hack we got a tool capable to set the Op Logo automatically and basically all you need is the right picture with right size.
Op Logo Changer is freeware Operator Logo changer for Nokia S60 3rd Ed Devices. As the name suggests it allows you to change the operator logo on your phone, as well as making it transparent or reset it back to the operator text.
I guess you all know what the Op Logo is but as a courtesy for those who are interested in learning, operator logo is the picture on right top part of your phone idle screen that appears instead of active network info in text format, in most cases it is a stylized name/logo of your operator.
Application is still under the heavy development with a very simple UI that is easy to use but if you have no experience with the Op Logos here is the detailed guide from the developer's blog.
The size of the Op Logo varies between different resolutions. These might not be 100% correct (and hopefully alpha testing will reveal the exact dimensions), but from what I can tell, these are the Op Logo sizes:
- For 240 x 320 resolutions (e.g. N95): 134 x 35 pixels
- For 176 x 208 resolutions (e.g. N91): 97 x 25 pixels
- For 352 x 416 resolutions (e.g. N80): 194 x 50 pixels
We’ll start with adding a new operator logo. Before I started, there was no Op Logo installed, so the standard operator text (’3′) was displayed:

Seems simple enough, doesn’t it? Basically choose a picture from the gallery, wait a few seconds while the program works it magic, reboot your phone and ta-da! It’s done. Could it be simpler? Of course, in future versions there will be advanced options to resize/crop/scale the image if it isn’t the correct size, but for now it’ll just squash any image to the dimensions quoted above, depending on your phone’s screen resolution.
Also there is no transparency for colour oplogos, S60 phones doesn't support gif's as operator logo, they use bitmap image format without masking support, that means that operator logo looks very ugly on complex backgrounds, in fact in all other backgrounds except the black/white one. Of course, there is a solution to get the transparent looks-alike logo and you can find pretty detailed instructions right here.
Making the logo transparent
A even easier process applies when making a logo transparent or reverting to the operator text. Simply choose the option, choose ‘Yes’ to confirm and reboot the phone. It’s done.

Restoring the original operator text

Ultimately, this is the same process as making a logo transparent - just choose the “Restore optext” button, hit Yes to confirm, reboot and it’s done.
