Tagggit Is Out Of Restricted Beta
Membership Is Now Open To Everyone
A couple of weeks back I written about Tagggit, an interesting geotagging application in the private beta testing phase but now it has come out of restricted beta testing and membership is now open to the general public!
A lot of improvements have been made. Most notably is the integration of a wireless positioning system, which makes our application even more accurate and much faster. Users can switch between GPS or Wi-Fi as they please.
Tagggit’s founder Loughlin Spollen welcomed the move saying “we were surprised with the number of requests for membership during the period of restricted beta testing and unfortunately we could not accommodate many of the people who emailed us seeking invitation codes. Today, everyone is welcome to join.” Tagggit remains in beta but is membership is now open to everyone.
Tagggit is a geo-tagging social network that facilitates members creating private, public and community geo-tags. Members can join communities and make friends. The Tagggit mobile application allows members create and search for tags. It is first application to deploy an accurate wireless positioning system on non Apple mobile devices. The Tagggit team is actively extending the portfolio of supported mobile phones.
New version of their mobile application can now find the phone’s position indoors, within a few seconds and accurate to fifteen feet. Tagggit have termed the wireless positioning system “City Mode” as it functions in metropolitan areas. Loughlin Spollen, Tagggit’s founder, explains “Tagggit is at its most useful in large cities and is currently used by members to find each other in downtown areas and to leave recommendations and surprise tags for friends.
However GPS is not good in built-up areas. This latest release of our mobile software will help us change the way urbanites use their phones.”
The Tagggit mobile application makes Tagggit a market leader in the geo tagging social network space. Loughlin describes this release “a major milestone for us as Tagggit members no longer have to wait for a GPS fix or stand outside to create and search for tags.” Tagggit now produces instant results without a notable delay. Tagggit members can find their location and the tags in their vicinity without waiting on a GPS fix.
