Nokia Email Service
PUSHES Blackberries Aside
We all see the people walking around with two cellphones. The one phone for calls, the other for work email, etc. It drives me insane! Well, finally, I may be getting some relief.
Nokia is focusing more and more on services, and last night's announcement is proof. Corporate mobile users, drop that Blackberry once and for all! Dual device toters, free up that extra pocket! Nokia is proud to present to you the Nokia Email service.
The Nokia Email service's biggest function is PUSH email. PUSH email is realtime instant email retrieval without the need for the user to manually log into email servers.
Unlike automatic retrieval, which logs on and retrieves email at specified intervals, PUSH email stays constantly connected, and emails arrive as promptly as a phonecall. For business on the go, or time sensitive correspondence, PUSH email is an invaluable tool. It is the main attraction to corporate groups, and the driving force behind the otherwise unexciting RIM Blackberry handsets all these years.
One feature that'll be welcome to all is the ability to create local email folders! It doesn't sync with Google folder at this time, but still a good solution.
The Nokia Email service site allows the ability to send the application installation file to multiple devices free of charge. Corporate and web based email are not compatible, but Nokia implies they may add it in the future.
The service itself is in beta, and will surely have a fee in the future. Right now, by signing up here, you'll receive a complimentary 1 year subscription.
You may need to sign up from your PC, as I had problems with site on the latest Nokia Webkit browser. There is no posted beta test period, and no indication how long this free subscription offer will last, so signing up today is highly suggested.
