fring mobile VoIP client gets an updated
and brings file transfer capability!
Fring™ today announced the launch of a new version of its popular free to download, free to use mobile phone application, packed with additional features which enable anyone with a compatible handset1 to talk, chat, and interact with other fring users (fringstersTM) from their mobile phones.
The new feature-rich fring offers an enhanced chat client, unique file transfer functionality, and local language options.”
I was already a big fan of the Fring service, partly because of it’s simple installation, partly because of the neat VoIP feature, and partly due to the interworking of different IM services (fringTM, Skype®, MSN® Messenger, Google Talk™, ICQ, Twitter, and now Yahoo!™ AIM®) - but if you add file upload/sharing to the mix, I think we have something close to a killer app on our hands - and the best bit is, it’s free! (note: apart from any data access charges you pay your service/WiFi provider)
Currently the upload functionality is limited to the Series60 handsets, but I’m sure it won’t be long before Fring has a further roll-out of features - but for now, this is app is GOOD - get it, use it, enjoy it!
This version includes the following features,
all requested by you:
-
File transfer - You can now send and receive files from other fringsters and MSN friends. More services will be supported soon.
-
Chat improvments - The chat screen was (almost) built from scratch, we've added 'Typing indication' so you can know when the other side is typing, we've added a real time status icon, easy file sending from this screen and more.
-
Multi language support - The fring client is now translated to 7 languages: English, Russian, Italian, German, French, Chinese and Spanish (Let us know if you find any funny words... cool?)
-
Bug fixes - Many bugs were fixed in this version, you'll have to try it out... :-)
