emTube Returns
Official site will be back soon as well
I've been inundated with news lately, and haven't been able to keep up, and I'd let some exciting news go by unreported yesterday.
Around 3:30pm, fellow Dallas-Fort Worth area Symbian Freak member phairest sent me an email to announce a discovery I'm sure all Symbian Freaks will receive with great joy!
Ladies and gentlemen, Sebastian Jedruszkiewicz's legendary creation, emtube, has regained functionality with YouTube's servers! That's right! The first and arguably best, full YouTube browsing app is back!
YouTube recently changed certain server settings for maintenance and security which left emtube disabled. Mobitubia, with it's slick interface and award winning design, was there to pick up the slack and carry the torch, and it's fully capable as well.
I myself preferred emtube's utilization of a better codec, resulting in clearer downloaded videos. It's interface was simple, easy to use, and allowed downloading to a user defined location. I was simply heartbroken when emtube's developer site went offline, and assumed I'd only be able to use it for local file viewing. Let's just say I was slightly more than elated to see its return!
According to phairest, and proven on my device as well, emtube version 1.0.10 is working on the N95-2 and N95-4. Many N80 users reported full YouTube access on this and other versions as well.
If you still have emtube, or wish to try it on your device, by all means give it a try! Report your working emtube version and phone model to help other users figure which version is best for them.
Actual Public Version: 1.0.10
Anyway, although official site is currently unavailable emTube is alive and the official site will be online again soon, so don't worry about ;)
Possible new features in upcoming version 1.0.12:
- Transfer-Manager (Video-Upload)
- Search for program updates
- Define Access Point
